I’m supposed to be reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  Supposed to be.  I’m a few chapters in now and I still don’t care about the story.  If you’re reading this book — or wow, if you’ve finished it! — write and tell me why I should stick with it, because right now I’m so bored.  Last night I picked up an old favorite, Crossing to Safety, which made my husband laugh.  He knows that when I’m frustrated with a book I go back to these old standbys.  I love the first line:  “Floating upward through a confusion of dreams and memory, curving like a trout through the rings of previous risings, I surface.”

I know all books can’t be masterpieces.   But when I’m struggling through a lesser tome, it’s tough to ignore all the great literature out there, just waiting to be read and reread.

So many books, so little time.
