Finally ….

51vycDrLv4L._SL300I’ve been having a hard time finding a book that really grabs me.  I’ve read the first pages of so many novels, so many memoirs, only to toss them back on the pile and move on.

Until now.  Here’s the best book I’ve read this year.  You won’t be able to get these characters, or their decisions, out of your mind.

You can read an interview with the author — a first time novelist — here.

It’s shocking how well-written this book is for a first time novelist. Not a wasted sentence or scene anywhere.

Same here! It’s been in my sites for awhile. It sounds stunning and now, I have to read it. Thanks for sharing.

I wouldn’t have one, except for the fact I already had an IPad and I discovered I could download books in Finland. I had to feed my book habit somehow, and was I happy when I found out I could!

How did you know, Teri, that this one is on the very top of my TBR?! The premise had me from the first–and of course I do a small thing for lighthouses…

When are you headed to CT? Soon?

In a few weeks. And speaking of CT, last year I remember being in workshop and talking about one of the reasons people read books: to be shown a world they’d never know otherwise. This is one of those stories.

And I, of course, thought of you when I bought the book. You’ll love all the details about living on the rock and manning the lighthouse.

I’ll be thinking of you as you pack, physically and mentally, for the time away. So excited for you and your work…

I meant to say too how I loved her version of a book trailer–too often book trailers leave me cold but hers was so well done, and best of all, made me want to read it even more.
