House of Books

Hallelujah people.  There’s a new, independent bookstore in downtown Los Gatos.

They’ve only been open for a week, but I stopped by yesterday to say hello and to buy a couple of books.  What a beautiful store.

The owners say they’re setting up author events.  If you belong to a local book club (I’m looking at you, Bonnie and Sonja) they will order your books and be thrilled to host your group, inside or on their patio.

Welcome, Village House of Books.  You’ll be seeing a lot of me.

So cool. You know I visited my first real independent bookstore when I was in Florida two weeks ago. Water Color, Florida is a touristy shopping area, it everything has that unique, can’t find this in a mall feel. Very different feeling from the B&N and Little Professor I’ve always used…no independent stores in my area.

GAH! So lovely, so pretty, so, so, booky! This post gave me such hope, that people are still opening bookstores. Maybe there’s hope for me yet (to open one I mean).

what a happy surprise! the white bookshelves and yellow striped awnings are almost as beautiful as all the books. congrats on having a new place to hang!

Very cool. We lost both our Barnes & Noble bookstores. One has been replaced by something called Books a Million. It’s worth it to drive 40 miles to Nicola’s Books in Ann Arbor.

It’s got a vibe – even just the picture! It looks like nice little nook to visit and sounds like they are very supportive of authors. Bonus!

Good luck to the business owners. I think we’re seeing a rise in independent bookstores who are locally based and re-taking the place in the community.
